Daniel Jones Continues as Colts QB Against Vikings

Daniel Jones will continue as the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts in their upcoming Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings, despite his struggles this season. This decision was confirmed by Colts coach Shane Steichen, following a disappointing loss to the Tennessee Titans and the recent firing of general manager Chris Ballard. Jones, facing criticism for his performance, includes committing nine turnovers this year, ranking him second-worst among league quarterbacks. His overall performance metrics such as QBR, completion rate, and yards per attempt also position him near the bottom among starters.

Coach Steichen emphasized the importance of reducing turnovers, especially in critical game zones like the red zone. “He’s aware that he has to produce and play better,” Steichen remarked, noting the crucial need for smarter plays to avoid compromising scoring opportunities. Despite challenges such as his recovery from last year’s injury, an underperforming receiving group, and an inconsistent offensive line, Steichen believes Jones will improve his game management.
